Ahead of a major drilling program, Aurora Minerals engaged Industrial Safe to assist with risk definition, planning and contractor management.
Our initial focus was to evaluate the nature and extent of Aurora’s exploration activities and the associated potential risk exposures. We then worked with Aurora to build an Exploration Package that would suit their immediate requirements for the drilling program and deliver a practical strategy to further develop their OHS practices with the anticipated success of their exploration activities.
Industrial Safe facilitated a risk definition workshop with a cross-section of Aurora’s senior management and field exploration team. We compiled the results into a practical risk management plan that clearly identified risks and priorities.
The risk management plan provided a clear path for Aurora to demonstrate an understanding of the hazards and risks of their exploration activities, and show that they had planned or implemented control measures to manage these risks.
Our Exploration Package delivered an induction program that would ensure Aurora’s employees and contractors were fully informed of the potential hazards and controls associated with exploration activities, a simple contractor management system that considered the types of contracts and range of work settings, and emergency and crisis management planning.
Two years on, we continue to provide Aurora with OHS support as they explore towards the discovery of high-value mineral deposits whilst fulfilling their OHS statutory responsibilities and working towards industry best practice.
